Dr. Kuehnle is CEO of Kuehnle AgroSystems, a company she started after two decades as a Professor in plant biotechnology at the University of Hawaii. Dr. Kuehnle has led the company on R&D and commercialization of microalgae optimized for use in nutrition, cosmetics, biofuels, and wastewater treatment, and on collaborations for integrated bio-refineries. Dr. Kuehnle has published several books and book chapters, has numerous issued and pending patents, more than 90 publications, and has launched over two-dozen plant and algae varieties for global trade. Her company received a 2012 EPA Environmental Achievement Award, and she was named a Hawaii Energy Industry Pacesetter, Hawaii Inventor of the Year, and Scientist of the Year while at the University of Hawaii. Dr. Kuehnle earned her Ph.D. at Cornell University and B.A. at Middlebury College.
